This month’s online guided meditation will take place this Saturday (6th June) via Zoom and will be drawn from The First Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola, as adapted by Michael Hansen SJ.
The First Spiritual Exercises are a shorter form of the Full Spiritual Exercises, the great classic spirituality text written by St Ignatius, founder of the Society of Jesus (better known as the Jesuits), in the 16th century. The full exercises are usually made over a period of 30 days in silence, but the First Spiritual Exercises are designed exactly as a prayer resource in daily life.
This first guided meditation will focus on God’s work in creation and our own profound relationship with the world around us. And we will ask ourselves, how might we play our part in God’s ongoing work of loving creation? What might that mean in my own life, or in my community?
Over these coming months, we will have the chance to pray different elements from the first week of the Exercises, which together will help us, as LGBT Catholics and friends:
- deepen our personal relationship with the Trinity
- come to see God’s presence more clearly in our lives
- discover new sources for spiritual vitality and inner peace
- open ourselves to the transforming and healing power of God
And, by walking this path together, we can also deepen and strengthen our sense of community as we share the fruits of our prayer.
“The Spiritual Exercises is the very best thing that in this life, I can think, perceive or understand for helping a person benefit himself as well as bringing fruit, benefit, and advantage to many others; for even if you felt no need for the former, you will see immeasurably and incomparably you will be helped with regard to the latter” St. Ignatius.
Please join us this Saturday at 7.00pm. If you are interested in taking part, via Zoom, please register (if you didn’t register for any or our past online events).
